Ellie Meade, Regional Director for Youth First was our guest speaker on Thursday, November 29th. Ellie spoke to the class about her role as regional director and the mission of Youth First. "To strengthen youth and families through evidence-based programs that prevent substance abuse, promote healthy behaviors, and maximize student success." This mission was started approximately 20 years ago in the Evansville-Vanderburgh county area. Since then, Youth First has expanded into 10 counties including Daviess, Greene, Martin and Monroe to the north of Evansville. Ms. Meade also spoke to the class about the role of non-profits in local communities and the role that non-profit boards play in establishing procedures and direction for the organization.
