On Tuesday, December 4th, the CEO class had the opportunity to visit Belt Tech Industrial on the outskirts of Washington. Belt Tech began in 1991 when Bill & Jeff Russell started a part time business to service the coal industry in the area. They repaired conveyor belts that would break periodically. Those humble beginnings were the start of a very successful business that now services the coal industry and also the aggregate stone business throughout the midwest. Belt Tech has two other locations in Madisonville, Kentucky and DuQuoin, Illinois. In 2006, Jordan Russell became the CEO and Chris Kimball took over as COO. They have expanded Belt Tech in different markets and now are involved in servicing and selling equipment for the aggregate stone business. Both Jordan and Chris emphasized the importance of work ethic and the soft skills needed today. Both said that there is no substitution for hard work. These are the "life lessons" that set CEO apart from the normal school classes. Chris Kimball also emphasized the core values that Belt Tech emphasizes. These are values that our students can relate to. Thank you Jordan Russell and Chris Kimball for an amazing story of success and for challenging our students to be better people.
