Zella Taylor, CEO and Executive Director of the United Way of Daviess County was our guest speaker on Tuesday, December 18th. Zella explained to the class the mission, role and struggles that exist with the United Way Organization. The mission of the United Way is to build stronger communities by improving education, financial stability and health--the building blocks for a good quality of life. This organization has been in existence for 130 years and is in 40+ countries worldwide. It serves 61 million people worldwide and raised 4.7 billion dollars in the past year. Zella pointed out an interesting fact about the United Way logo. The hands are up, not out. The role is not to give customers a hand out, but to help them out. Zella also left a very important life lesson with the students. She said that "90% of everything is motivation." This statement helps reinforce several of the life lessons from the CEO video series.

Thank you Zella for sharing with the CEO class today.
