Rick Bell and Adam Crouse, Co-Owners of J&R Tool, Inc. hosted the CEO class on Tuesday, March 12th. J&R Tool was started in 1994 on the family farm by Rick Bell. After gaining knowledge and experience working in the industry, Rick decided to venture out on his own. The company is named after his grandfather (John) and himself (Rick). Seven years ago, Adam Crouse entered as a partner in the business. Originally from New York state, Adam served in the Marines, went to VU, then worked at SIAC at Crane. In the past seven years, the business has had a growth rate of 600%. They attribute this to their Unique Value Proposition of beating the competition in timeliness and quality. Over 70% of their products are made for the military including the Navy, Army, Marines and also Bath Iron Works, which makes ships for the military. All their finished products are made with either stainless steel, aluminum or titanium.

When asked what caused their business to grow, both stated that we "knew someone who knew someone who knew someone." This life lesson is constantly instilled in our CEO students. The ability to network on a daily basis is key to getting both your name and your business name out in the market.

We sincerely thank both Rick and Adam for the opportunity to see a successful small business in our backyard.
