"If this was easy (selling), everyone would be doing it!" This statement by Austin Bush, the National Sales Manager for Indiana Safety & Supply. Bush went on to say that a lot of selling happens after someone tells you "NO." As a salesperson, it's your job to overcome the barriers in selling. He gave the students several tips on being successful in sales and really emphasized great communication skills.

Indiana Safety & Supply started in a spare bedroom by Kevin Bush and his father in 1992. They saw a need for a variety of safety products in several manufacturing plants. Starting with only gloves and ear plugs, today Indiana Safety can sell up to 5 million different products. Austin and his brother Justin are now the 3rd generation of Bush's in the company. Austin told the class that the greatest reason for their rapid growth has been the introduction of their Safety 360 branded products. They carry 16 different gloves with a variety of "big cat" names on them, such as snow leopard, tiger and lion. Each product is very distinctive in what problem it solves in the workplace. They also created "Ear Force" ear plugs with a variety of military themed names such as alliance and honor. Indiana Safety also donates a percentage of sales revenue to military families and to conservation of big cats from both product lines. By creating their own branded products, they have cut down on the number of products they have to carry in those lines and have been able to generate a larger margin on sales.
