Hannah Ashby, 2018 CEO graduate and currently a sophomore at Butler University spoke to the CEO class about college, CEO and branding yourself. Hannah told the students that "every brand that you are a part of is an opportunity to brand yourself." As an example, when having a conversation with someone the CEO brand can be a talking point, or possibly the college or high school you attend. She said that these can be common talking points with potential employees or your network of people. Hannah gave the students several tips for success. These included: networking - you need to be able to talk about yourself and connect; resume-keep it to one page, they want to see if you are well balanced; open a LinkedIn account, business contacts look at this; Thank You Notes--this is what sets you apart from the competition. They need to be personalized instead of a general message. Ashby also shared with the class her group project at Butler. Her and five other students created and marketed "PleasantPouch." This product stores your wet cloths until you can wash them. So far, the group has sold the product to college athletic teams and has found other markets for the product. A lesson learned was "to listen to your market." A final message from Hannah was the value of engaging. Her CEO experience helped her in this task but she stated that "the power of a small conversation is so critical." Thank you Hannah for so many great takeaways.
