Daviess County Community Foundation Regional Directors Mary Smith and Lauren Osmon conducted a Zoom conference call with the class on Tuesday, September 15. Mary has been the regional director for the past seven years whereas Lauren has been with the Community Foundation for the past 2-3 years.

Both directors updated the class on the purpose of the foundation and explained what it meant by the term "endowment." There are approximately 170 endowed funds in the Daviess County Foundation. Lauren's role is managing these grant funds. She explained the grant process to the class along with the myriad of funds available and their purpose.

The Daviess County Community Foundation was established in 1993 to support local community needs. Mary explained that the concept of community foundations was started in 1914 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Thank you both Mary Smith and Lauren Osmon for today's presentation.
