"Take it serious; keep your eyes open to pick up any tiny bit of knowledge." This was one of several "Life Lessons" that Roman Stoll of Stoll's Woodworking shared with the CEO class on Thursday, September 16th. Roman also told the class that "it's the hands-on experience that will teach you."

Roman, along with brothers Reuben and John Jr. are 2nd generation owners of Stoll's Woodworking near Odon, Indiana. This custom cabinet shop started as a hobby making furniture for the locals 35 years ago. John Stoll, Sr. started his "hobby shop" part time after working in the construction trade during the day.

When asked what sets them apart from the 80+ cabinet businesses in the county, Roman and John, Jr. both talked about their quality and building the modern looking cabinets. They still build the traditional looking cabinets, but their niche is the modern look. Daviess County CEO alumni Amelia Rodriquez is the lead designer for Stoll's. She is the first contact for customers in designing their cabinets. After a tour of the production facility with all the latest technology, John Jr. spoke to the class. When asked "What tips he had for the class in running a business," he stated the following. "Honesty, never leave a job until your customers are satisfied. Also hard work and quality are essential."

Thank you Roman, John Jr. and Amelia for both the important life lessons and insight into business ownership.
