On Friday 2/24/23 the Daviess County CEO Cohort had the honor of Beau Sluder stopping by to talk about the road to becoming a new CEO in Bloomington. Beau graduated from Barr-Reeve in 2011 and continued his education at University of Southern Indiana to obtain his nursing degree. Meanwhile in a short period of time climbing the corporate ladder in the medical industry to obtain a CEO position with a Surgical Center in Bloomington. He gave the CEO Cohort some great advice: “People skills will get you further in life than any other skill.” “Don’t pretend and don’t try to fake it.” “Trust the opinions of others.”
Beau made the point that if he had not stepped out of his comfort zone, he would not be in his current position. You have to be yourself and trust who you are. Beau admitted one of his biggest roadblocks has been “conflict resolution” but is inevitable when you are in management because you will be working with a lot of big personalities.
The question was asked about what advice can you give us about interviews and Beau responded: overdress; always research the place you are interviewing with; be honest; and most importantly be confident. He made it a final point to encourage the Cohort, when you go to school get involved in the activities and organizations, always be cognizant of doors to open. Thank you, Beau for taking time out of your busy schedule to share with us, what a Blessing.
