The Daviess County CEO Cohort recently embarked on a short but insightful journey to Loogootee, where they had the privilege of visiting Hawkins Health Center and engaging in a conversation with Brooke Hawkins. The entrepreneurial duo, Brooke and Jordan Hawkins, acquired an existing chiropractic business in 2011, and their venture has thrived ever since.
Taking leaps of faith, the Hawkins expanded their operations by moving into a new building in Loogootee and establishing a new location in West Baden. Brooke’s high-spirited passion for business and a genuine commitment to youth, openly shared the life lessons she and Jordan learned while building their enterprise. She commended the Cohort for their eagerness to learn, their passion for business, and their commendable early morning starts at 7:45 am.
Brooke emphasized the versatility of business knowledge, stating, "You can get into almost anything if you know how to run a business." The Hawkins initially projected a 5-year business plan, but their rapid growth and the addition of staff necessitated quick adjustments. Living by their mission statement—Leadership, Passion, Chiropractic, and WOW Service—the Hawkins stressed the importance of creating a "coachable" team that shares your dreams and passion when navigating the business owner arena.
Brooke left the Cohort with two powerful thoughts: "I am a Chiropractor by trade, but fell in love with leadership." She advocated for learning from those ahead, encouraging questions and a continuous thirst for knowledge. Drawing on a poignant metaphor, she added, "You might be the juiciest peach in the box, but some people just don't like peaches." Stressing the significance of open communication, intentionality, and genuine connections with employees and customers, Brooke highlighted the keys to successful leadership.
In conclusion, the Daviess County CEO Cohort expressed gratitude to Brooke for generously sharing her insights into growing a vibrant business. The visit not only provided valuable lessons for aspiring entrepreneurs but also served as a reminder that, in the world of business, adaptability, leadership, and a passion for learning are crucial ingredients for success.
