On September 20th, the Daviess County CEO Cohort had the privilege of hosting Toby Madison for an inspiring morning focused on the dynamic world of marketing. Toby shared invaluable advice with the cohort, guiding them through key principles of personal branding, goal setting, and relationship-building that are vital for success in any industry.
Toby emphasized the importance of self-reflection, urging the cohort to "figure out what makes you 'YOU'" and to answer the crucial question, "Who am I?" These foundational insights help individuals carve out their unique identity and voice in the marketplace.
He also encouraged the group to craft a compelling 30-second pitch—an essential tool for making memorable first impressions. Other essential takeaways included the importance of setting clear goals, connecting with people, maintaining a competitive spirit, sharing a compelling story, and developing a strong work ethic.
During the session, Toby introduced and explained three influential selling theories:
"The Purple Cow" – A concept by Seth Godin that highlights the importance of standing out by being remarkable in a crowded market.
"Made to Stick" – Based on the book by Chip and Dan Heath, it focuses on creating ideas that are memorable and impactful.
"The Tipping Point" – Malcolm Gladwell's theory about how small actions can lead to a larger trend, showing how little things can tip the scales toward success.
Toby's real-world examples brought these theories to life, leaving the cohort with practical takeaways to apply in their future ventures. The Daviess County CEO Cohort extends a heartfelt thank you to Toby Madison for taking time out of his busy day to inspire and educate the next generation of business leaders.
