Daviess County CEO Cohort Visits Helena Agri-Enterprises in Montgomery
On Friday, April 4th, the Daviess County CEO Cohort had the privilege of visiting Helena Agri-Enterprises in Montgomery, where they met with Corbin Abrell, the location’s manager responsible for overseeing the sales team and daily operations. Corbin, who stepped into leadership during the challenging onset of the Covid era in 2020, warmly welcomed the students and shared his passion for the agricultural industry, emphasizing its vital role in sustaining everyday life.
Helena in Montgomery serves farmers across Daviess, Knox, Pike, Greene, and Martin Counties. Since acquiring local business Traylor Fertilizer in 2015, Helena has strengthened its commitment to providing high-quality agricultural products and services throughout the region.
During the visit, Corbin captivated the cohort with an electronic map displaying Helena’s regional footprint, including detailed soil-level testing data. He explained how this information helps guide future applications, highlighting Helena’s focus on precision, efficiency, and innovation. Corbin also stressed that bulk purchasing plays a significant role in achieving a strong bottom line.
Explaining the differences between wholesale and retail operations, Corbin emphasized the critical importance of hiring the right people, stating that a company’s success is rooted in the strength of its team. He also discussed the value of building lasting customer relationships, citing the 80/20 rule and noting that most business comes from loyal, repeat customers. “Most people buy from people,” Corbin said, underscoring the power of personal connections in business.
