On April 15th, the Daviess County CEO Cohort ventured up St. Mary’s Road for an eye-opening visit to Off Gridr LLC—formerly known as KC Innovations—and discovered one of the county’s most inspiring success stories. Tucked away within the community, Off Gridr has quietly become a leader in off-the-grid lighting and electronics, exemplifying the innovation and entrepreneurial drive flourishing in Daviess County.
Off Gridr LLC specializes in designing and producing battery-powered solutions specifically tailored for plain communities and off-grid environments. From sustainable lighting to essential electronics, their products provide vital services where access to traditional power sources is limited—proving the company’s creativity and practical impact.
Guiding the CEO students through the complex process of circuit board production was Karsyn Wittmer, a member of the 2024 CEO Cohort and part of the Off Gridr team. Her involvement speaks volumes about the company's dedication to nurturing local talent and offering meaningful opportunities to young entrepreneurs.
Founder Doug Knepp shared his journey of leaving a secure job to fully commit to his vision for Off Gridr. His story resonated deeply with the students, showcasing the courage, purpose, and determination that drove the company forward.
At the heart of Off Gridr is a close-knit team consisting of Doug, his sons Logan and Luke, along with Karsyn Wittmer. Doug emphasized that one of his greatest goals was to work side-by-side with his sons—a dream now realized through their shared commitment to innovation and service. They carried with them a renewed appreciation for the power of entrepreneurship rooted in family, community, and a mission to meet real-world needs.
The Daviess County CEO Cohort extends their heartfelt thanks to Doug Knepp and the entire Off Gridr team for their time, insight, and inspiring story. Their pioneering spirit is a shining example of the entrepreneurial energy shaping the future of Daviess County.
