Daviess County CEO Cohort Visits Williams Bros Health Care Facility
On Tuesday, April 25th, 2025, the Daviess County CEO Cohort had the opportunity to visit Williams Bros Health Care in Washington, Indiana. The visit, hosted by Clay Williams and Cheryl May, offered students a valuable look into the legacy, values, and growth of this respected family-owned business.
Clay Williams shared the inspiring story of the company, which dates back to 1899. Over the decades, Williams Bros has expanded into a multi-location retail pharmacy, a trusted provider of home medical equipment, and one of Indiana’s leading clinical respiratory teams. The organization also operates a state-of-the-art compounding lab in Bloomington and holds certifications in Safe Home Solutions.
A guiding principle since the company’s founding comes from Charles C. Williams:
“Be nice to people and they will be nice to you.”
This simple yet powerful philosophy remains at the heart of their customer-centered approach.
As an independent, family-run pharmacy, Williams Bros is committed to meeting the healthcare needs of communities across Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky, offering a broad range of services while maintaining a personal, local touch.
Clay emphasized the importance of adapting to change, encouraging students to embrace lifelong learning, take on new challenges, and avoid limiting themselves to one role or path. He introduced the company’s motivational motto, “Be EPIC,” which stands for:
Exceptional, Positive, Inspiring, and Caring.
He also discussed key leadership principles such as strong marketing, calculated risk-taking, team development, and the importance of continuous improvement. Clay posed a meaningful question to the students:
“What does success mean to you?”
He reminded them that this definition can evolve over time, and that growth often comes through learning from failure.
The company’s mission—
"To exceed customer expectations by continually expanding services, technology, and product offerings to be the company of choice for your health care service needs throughout Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Ohio"—serves as a compass for its continued growth and innovation.
In closing, Clay compared success to an iceberg: what people see is only a small part of the story. He encouraged the cohort to stay focused on their mission, embrace challenges, and always reflect on their personal definition of success.
The Daviess County CEO Cohort extends sincere thanks to Cheryl and Clay for their hospitality and for sharing invaluable insights during a truly memorable and inspiring visit.
