Daviess County CEO Cohort Visits Putter’s Bay
On Monday, April 28, 2025, the Daviess County CEO Cohort had the pleasure of visiting Putter’s Bay in Washington, Indiana. The group was warmly welcomed by owners Virginia and Steve Dayton, who shared their entrepreneurial journey and gave the cohort an unforgettable experience, including a round of mini-golf.
Virginia recounted the inspiring story of how Steve envisioned and launched the business back in 2005. One of their early challenges was finding the right location; their first proposal to build in a local park was declined. However, through perseverance and support from fellow business owners, they secured their current site. Virginia emphasized the importance of “location, location, location,” especially in the entertainment industry, and shared the wisdom of staying adaptable: “Expect the unexpected!” She reminded the students to remain grounded in their faith and trust the journey: “Keep praying, and you will be wowed!”
Throughout the visit, Virginia offered heartfelt and practical advice. She encouraged the students to start with the resources they have, seek guidance from others, and never be afraid to ask for help. She also addressed the realities of business ownership, her message was clear: don’t limit yourself, stay flexible, and always strive to accommodate others, because “everyone has a story.”
A highlight of the visit was learning about the Daytons’ newest venture: "Dig at the Bay" — a creative and fun concept where guests can operate remote control construction equipment in a dirt pit. The Daytons demonstrated some of the machines, and the cohort was thrilled to witness this innovative form of diversification in action. What a fun way to bring out the kid in everyone!
The CEO students expressed their gratitude to Virginia and Steve for their hospitality and inspiration. They admired the beauty of the course and appreciated the valuable life and business lessons shared. It was truly an enriching and memorable experience.
