The Daviess County CEO Cohort recently experienced an inspiring visit on Sept 3 to K & K Industries, an established truss manufacturing company. During this educational encounter, the students gained invaluable insights from Greg Knepp, the company's Production Manager and IT specialist.
Greg began the session by sharing a meaningful verse from Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." This scripture served as a foundation for challenging the cohort to pursue their goals with unwavering commitment and clear purpose.
Greg shared K & K Industries' extraordinary journey of perseverance through devastating setbacks. The company has weathered multiple catastrophic events, including a complete fire that required total reconstruction, a tornado that once again destroyed their facilities, and the tragic loss of founder Abe (Nelson's father) in an aviation accident. Despite these overwhelming challenges, K & K Industries rebuilt each time with the steadfast support of family, friends, and the local business community. This testimony emphasized how strong relationships serve as the foundation for overcoming adversity and achieving success.
The cohort received a comprehensive tour of K & K Industries' manufacturing operations, offering them an inside look at the sophisticated process of truss production. Greg demonstrated the company's advanced 3D imaging technology, showcasing their dedication to staying at the forefront of industry innovation and maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Greg challenged the students with three essential principles for success:
1. Connect with people - Building meaningful relationships
2. Integrity - Maintaining ethical standards in all endeavors
3. The importance of names - Recognizing the value and dignity of every individual
He concluded with a thought-provoking quote: "Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And weak men create hard times."
The Daviess County CEO Cohort expressed their sincere appreciation to Greg Knepp for his generous time, valuable wisdom, and comprehensive facility tour.
