On Tuesday, November 18, the Daviess County CEO Cohort joined forces with the Martin County CEO Cohort for a visit to Midwestern Engineers in Loogootee. The group was warmly welcomed by Gracie Madison, Marketing Coordinator; Nathan Walker, Senior Land Surveyor; and Jon Craig, Business Development Director, who shared insights into the company’s mission, history, and impact.
Founded in 1959, Midwestern Engineers was established to help bring quality drinking water to rural Indiana and has since grown into an industry leader in water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure. Committed to improving infrastructure that enhances quality of life, the firm emphasizes proactive, two-way communication—listening carefully to clients to ensure projects reflect their vision and support economic and community development.
As a full-service engineering firm, Midwestern Engineers offers in-house expertise in civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering. Their work spans municipal transportation projects, building design, parks and recreation site civil projects, and more. The team takes pride in delivering environmentally responsible, fundable plans and guiding communities through the complexities of federal and state funding resources.
During the visit, the team also spoke about the process of business acquisitions, sharing their recent experience of being acquired by CHA in September. They discussed how acquisitions impact company culture, operations, and growth, giving students valuable real-world insight into strategic business decisions and long-term planning.
Beyond technical expertise, students were encouraged to embrace key professional values: be authentic, personable, interactive, adaptable, and always strive to educate yourself by learning the “why” behind the work.
Thank you to Gracie Madison, Nathan Walker, Jon Craig, and the entire Midwestern Engineers team for their time, hospitality, and commitment to strengthening Indiana communities.
