On Wednesday, March 4, the Daviess County CEO Cohort visited Graber Post Buildings for an in-depth look at the growth and leadership behind one of the region’s most successful companies. While founder Glen Graber was unable to attend, Matt Meredith, Trent Wagler, and Cory Padgett guided the group through the company’s history and shared insights from his entrepreneurial journey.
Students learned how the business grew from a simple shed project into a large-scale operation, now covering 48 acres under roof and employing more than 400 people across multiple locations. The company continues to expand, with a new manufacturing and distribution facility underway in Ashley, Indiana. A key milestone in its growth came in 2014 when the company surpassed $1 million in sales, marking a turning point in its trajectory.
Throughout the visit, Matt, Trent, and Cory emphasized lessons that have shaped the company’s success. They spoke about the value of competition as a driver for improvement, while also stressing the importance of staying grounded in strong values, faith, and continuous learning. Curiosity emerged as a central theme—encouraging students to ask questions, seek connections, and remain open to new ideas.
The speakers highlighted trust as a foundational element in business, along with the need to stay flexible and adapt as opportunities evolve. They also discussed the importance of building a strong workplace culture by treating employees like family, using social media as an effective marketing tool, staying aware of industry trends, supporting the community, and maintaining a strong commitment to customer service. Embracing different perspectives was another key takeaway, reinforcing the value of collaboration and open-minded thinking.
During the visit, the cohort toured the facilities, gaining a firsthand look at the scale, efficiency, and innovation that drive the company forward. The experience provided a powerful example of what can be achieved through vision, hard work, and a willingness to grow.
The Daviess County CEO Cohort is grateful to Matt, Trent, and Cory for sharing their time, knowledge, and experiences. Their insights offered meaningful guidance and inspiration that will stay with these young entrepreneurs as they pursue their own goals.
