On April 15, 2026, the Daviess County CEO students traveled to Apexx Drone Solutions for an eye-opening experience focused on innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. Hosted by Cody Garrison and Jesse Bellman, the visit gave students a firsthand look at how drone technology is rapidly changing industries and creating new business opportunities across the country.
During the session, Cody and Jesse introduced students to the growing impact of drones in areas such as agriculture, construction, emergency response, and commercial services. They explained how Apexx Drone Solutions specializes in advanced DJI drone systems and custom-built aerial application spray trailers designed to meet the needs of modern businesses and farmers. Their passion for innovation and problem-solving was evident throughout the presentation.
Students also heard their personal journeys, Cody shared that just two years ago he was training horses, and Jesse was an Ag Major in college, reminding students that career paths can take unexpected turns and that opportunities often appear where you least expect them. Their message encouraged students to stay open-minded and willing to pursue new possibilities.
One of the most memorable parts of the visit was hearing how Apexx approaches challenges with creativity and a willingness to think differently. The team discussed unique ideas, like using drones to distribute salt across icy parking lots, showcasing how innovation often comes from stepping outside traditional methods. Students were encouraged to take risks, think creatively, and not be afraid to try something new.
Apexx Drone Solutions also shared several key areas of focus within their business:
** Expanding within the rapidly growing agricultural drone market
** Providing sales and service for advanced drone technology
** Designing and building custom drone rigs and mobile command centers
** Training the next generation of drone pilots for an evolving industry
Following the presentation, students toured the shop and explored the equipment and technology used by the company. The experience concluded with an outdoor drone demonstration that allowed students to see the drones in action and better understand the capabilities of autonomous technology. Cody also shared exciting news that Apexx would soon be testing one of the first American-made drones, highlighting how quickly the industry continues to evolve.
The Daviess County CEO program sincerely thanks Cody and Jesse for investing their time and sharing their knowledge with the students. Their passion, creativity, and entrepreneurial mindset provided valuable insight and inspiration for the next generation of business leaders.
