On May 1, 2026, the Daviess County CEO Cohort had the opportunity to visit MacAllister Machinery in Washington for an insightful and educational experience. The group was welcomed by Drew Johnson and Clint Underhill, who shared valuable lessons about leadership, growth, and the importance of workplace culture within the family-owned company.
During the visit, Drew and Clint strongly emphasized the importance of punctuality, explaining that being on time reflects responsibility, professionalism, and respect for others. Another key focus of the discussion was safety, which they described as a top priority throughout every aspect of the business.
The cohort learned about MacAllister’s long history and growth in Indiana. MacAllister became the first Caterpillar dealer in Indiana in 1945, and the Washington location was established in 1977. From 1977 through 2016, the company’s primary market centered around coal mines, helping the business build a strong reputation throughout the region. Today, the Washington location has grown to employ 107 team members and operates an impressive field service department that includes 27 service trucks and a boom truck.
Drew and Clint also shared the company’s vision and pride in their work, stating, “We want to put our stamp on it,” and “We want to be the best Cat dealer.” Their commitment to excellence and willingness to travel wherever work is needed demonstrated the dedication and strong work ethic that have fueled the company’s continued success.
The visit concluded with a wonderful tour of the facility, where students were able to see the operation firsthand and gain a deeper appreciation for the teamwork, organization, and effort required to keep the business running successfully. The Daviess County CEO Cohort is grateful to Drew, Clint, and the entire MacAllister team for their hospitality and willingness to invest in the next generation of leaders.
