Daviess County CEO Cohort Learns About Entrepreneurship from Selling Table Founder Jared Miller. On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the Daviess County CEO Cohort welcomed Jared, founder of Selling Table, for an engaging discussion about entrepreneurship, career changes, and the importance of recognizing opportunities. He shared his personal journey, demonstrating to students that building a successful business often requires taking unexpected turns and learning from a variety of experiences.
His professional journey began as a high school athlete and included a brief time in college before he entered Christian ministry. After eventually making his home in Daviess County, he explored several career paths, including automotive repair, investing, real estate, mortgage lending, and regional banking. These diverse experiences helped shape his knowledge and prepared him for his next challenge: launching Selling Table in January 2022.
Jared founded Selling Table to assist individuals selling their homes without traditional real estate representation, commonly known as For Sale By Owner (FSBO) transactions. By identifying a need in the marketplace, he created a business designed to help sellers navigate the process more effectively. He has since expanded his work by developing software to simplify and support the real estate closing process, demonstrating how entrepreneurs can use technology to address real-world challenges.
During his presentation, he introduced students to several important aspects of real estate transactions, including appraisals, inspections, purchase agreements, deed recording, and bringing buyers and sellers together. He also shared lessons from marketing Selling Table. Although he initially experimented with Google Ads, Facebook Ads, radio advertising, and LinkedIn, he discovered that word-of-mouth referrals became his most effective source of business.
Throughout the visit, Jared emphasized several principles that can help young entrepreneurs prepare for success. He encouraged students to remain flexible, manage their finances carefully, and maintain enough startup capital to navigate the challenges of launching a business. He also challenged them to think about their individual strengths and purpose by asking, “What am I built and made for?”
Above all, he stressed the importance of integrity and consistently doing the right thing. His message reinforced that success involves more than earning money or building a company; it also means making sound decisions, treating people fairly, and earning the trust of others.
The Daviess County CEO Cohort sincerely thanks Jared for sharing his time, experience, and entrepreneurial insight. His story reminded students that careers do not always follow a predictable path. By remaining adaptable, recognizing opportunities, planning wisely, and leading with integrity, aspiring entrepreneurs can turn diverse experiences into meaningful opportunities for the future.
