Daviess County CEO Cohort Explores the World of Flexible Packaging at Isoflex Packaging. On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the Daviess County CEO Cohort visited Isoflex Packaging in Washington, Indiana, for an inside look at an industry that many people encounter every day but rarely think about. Hosted by Manager Mike Scalf, Quality Manager Tarin Healy, Office Manager/HR Perrin Granger, and Production Manager Bill LaRoche, students discovered the technology, teamwork, and innovation involved in producing flexible packaging materials.
Although packaging is something consumers see and use daily, the process behind creating it is far more complex than most people realize. Isoflex Packaging specializes in developing flexible film solutions for a wide variety of industries. The Washington location is one of seven facilities across the United States, making the company an important part of a much larger operation.
During the presentation, they explained how Isoflex works with customers to solve challenging packaging needs. The company serves several markets, including food and beverages, consumer products, agriculture, industrial films and bags, medical and pharmaceutical products, and other specialized applications. Students learned how the company uses its experience and innovative thinking to develop materials that meet the specific needs of different customers.
Growth and expansion were also major topics of discussion. The Washington facility has recently doubled in size, reflecting the company's continued growth and increasing demand for its products. This expansion provided students with a real-world example of what can happen when a business recognizes opportunities, adapts to changing markets, and continues investing in its future.
Even though it was a little loud, one of the most interesting parts of the visit was the opportunity to tour the facility. Students were able to see the production process firsthand and gain a better understanding of the equipment, precision, quality control, and coordination required to manufacture flexible packaging. The tour demonstrated just how many people and processes are involved in taking a product from an idea to a finished material ready for customers.
Mike also encouraged students to keep an open mind when considering future careers. He challenged them not to overlook the plastics and packaging industries when exploring career opportunities. Often, students may not realize the variety of careers available in manufacturing, from production and quality management to technology, human resources, and business operations. Industries like this offer opportunities for individuals with many different interests and skill sets.
The visit to Isoflex Packaging reminded students that successful businesses are constantly evolving. Innovation, problem-solving, investment in growth, and the ability to meet customer needs are all important ingredients in building a successful company.
The Daviess County CEO Cohort would like to extend a sincere thank-you to Mike, Tarin, Perrin, and Bill for welcoming the students and taking time out of their schedules to share their knowledge and experience. The visit provided a valuable look into an often-overlooked industry and gave students a greater appreciation for the manufacturing businesses and career opportunities right here in their own community.
