On Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, the Daviess County CEO Cohort had the privilege of visiting the Williams Bros Health Care facility located in Washington. This insightful visit was hosted by Clay Williams and Cheryl May, who warmly welcomed the cohort and shared the rich history and values of Williams Bros Health Care.
Clay Williams captivated the cohort with the fascinating story of Williams Bros, which dates back to 1899. Over the years, Williams Bros has evolved into a multi-location retail pharmacy, a provider of home medical equipment, one of Indiana's largest clinical respiratory teams, and boasts a compounding lab in Bloomington. Additionally, they are certified in providing Safe Home Solutions.
One of the key principles that Williams Bros has upheld since its inception is encapsulated in a quote from founder Charles C. Williams: “Be nice to people and they will be nice to you.” This foundational belief still resonates strongly with the company's ethos today.
As an independent, family-owned pharmacy, Williams Bros has been dedicated to serving the health needs of individuals and communities across Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. With a comprehensive range of healthcare services, they have positioned themselves as the local partner for all pharmacy and medical requirements.
Clay emphasized the importance of embracing change, stating, “Change is constant, be willing to change with it.” He encouraged the cohort to continuously learn new skills, avoid being confined to one department within any organization, and to adopt the motto: “Be EPIC” - which stands for Exceptional, Positive, Inspiring, and Caring. Another core principle that Williams Bros lives by is their commitment to building lasting customer relationships.
Discussing leadership qualities and sustaining growth, Clay highlighted the significance of effective marketing, continuous learning, calculated risk-taking, and building a robust employee infrastructure.
Williams Bros Health Care Pharmacy's mission statement, "To exceed customer expectations by continually expanding services, technology, and product offerings to be the company of choice for your health care service needs throughout Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Ohio," reflects their unwavering commitment to excellence.
Clay concluded by using the analogy of success being like an iceberg, urging the cohort to always keep their mission statement at the forefront and to remember the key factors contributing to their success. How do you define success and will you respond to failure.
In closing, the Daviess County CEO Cohort expressed their gratitude to Cheryl and Clay for their valuable insights and for hosting a memorable morning filled with inspiration and wisdom.
