On September 10, 2025, the Daviess County CEO Cohort traveled to Indianapolis for an educational session with senior leadership from the Indianapolis Indians, the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The group met with Matt Guay, Vice President and General Manager, and Bryan Spisak, Director of Business Systems and Talent, who generously shared their professional expertise and industry knowledge.
Bryan delivered valuable guidance on interview preparation, emphasizing that candidates typically have only four to five minutes to create a compelling first impression. He stressed the critical importance of connecting employees with the organization's mission as a foundation for business success.
The executives also shared interesting operational insights, including how the organization manages seasonal staffing challenges through strategic hiring practices, particularly leveraging retired individuals during peak periods to meet increased demand.
